Designed by a clinician for clinicians

How this elegantly simple solution was conceived.

Dr Stephen Hoole, founding inventor

Whilst developing a radial practice it struck Dr Hoole that the ergonomics of a radial procedure were far from perfect for both patient and physician. Patient engagement was needed to hold the arm still whilst interventional cardiologists frequently struggled with sub-optimal work height, promoting back strain and equipment instability. These factors made radial cases more difficult and longer than they needed to be.

A simpler solution was needed.

Inspired by fitted tennis wrist supports, a wearable arm and wrist support, tailored to the individual, was conceived that would allow the patient to be passively supported comfortably in the optimal position for a radial intervention and beyond into recovery.

Assembling a small expert team in Cambridge, the Radial Cradle® solution was developed and achieved a CE-Mark in 2019, with first in-man use at Royal Papworth Hospital, Cambridge shortly after.

Several hundred prototypes later.

Exhaustive testing and design iteration have resulted in a truly novel approach to the problem.
